Cyanoacrylate Adhesive

From all current evidence and research to date cyanoacrylates are regarded as physiologically harmless. Certain grades have been used for bonding human tissue. In the event of skin being inadvertently bonded soak in warm soapy water and gently peel apart not pull apart. In the event of contact with eyes rinse immediately with water and seek medical attention. A weak solution of sodium bicarbonate can be used as an eye rinse. KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN. Vapours from cyanoacrylates, when used in closed conditions, can irritate eyes and mucous membrane. Local exhaust or ventilation should be used.

Anaerobic, structural and UV adhesives

In general anaerobic, structural and UV adhesives are classified as irritating to skin, eyes and mucous membrane.
Correct gloves made of polythene should be worn when handling any of the above adhesives. Eye protection should also be worn. When handling large volumes of adhesive or operating in confined conditions respiratory protection maybe required.
Removal of adhesive from components

Most of the solvents used for removal of cyanoacrylates adhesives are either highly flammable or toxic and should be used with great care. Components should be checked for compatibility with the solvents. They may require soaking for a number of hours to remove the adhesive. Listed are some of the solvents: acetone, acetonitrile, methylene chloride, methyl sulphoxide, and dimethylformamide.

Also available for removal of cyanoacrylate adhesive is a non flammable, low toxicity de-bonder* details available on request.

Small and large spillages should be treated with sand or other inert material, cautiously add water to solidify. Care should be taken with both methods. Allow to harden and remove. Landfill or incinerate hardened material in accordance with local regulations.
